Lakeland Mouldings can offer a specialized casting service to individuals and businesses wishing to have product reproduced. Various casting mediums and finishes are available. Blank polyester resins, cold cast resins, urethanes, plaster, fibreglass, concrete and stone are a few that we supply, along with a variety of paint finishes. We can also work closely with customers to customize individual casting requirements to achieve unique finishes. Lakeland Mouldings has 20 years experience with in the casting and mould-making field from reproducing castings of valuable, rare and original pieces of work.

Polyester resin can be cast from silicone moulds to reproduce product for many purposes. Silver can be electroformed onto resin casts which can then be stamped at the assay office as resin filled. Resin casts can be hand painted in many different types of paint. Cold cast polyester resins can be reproduced to supply bronze, brass, copper and aluminium polished effects. There are also many types of fillers which can be added to resin to give different effects for example metal powders, granite, talc's, marble, slate etc. Colour pigments can be added to the resins at the casting stage to give you a base colour to work from.

The casting process involves either vacuuming or pressure casting the resin to remove any air that would be trapped within the resin mix. Depending on the complexity of the model we would use one of the processes to give you a bubble free cast that is strong and of a high quality. We can cast items as small as 1cm by 1cm to life-size pieces of sculpture from one offs too full production runs. Our aim is to offer that individual service.
Not only can we cast solid polyester resins but we also supply fibreglass product. These items are generally made in fibreglass because of their size or weight. Various finishes can be achieved with gel coats and laminating resins by adding colour pastes and fillers such as metal powders.
Polyurethane is most often used when tooling masters are needed. Urethane is an excellent master material especially when aluminium powder is added. It gives an excellent surface and allows you to machine, rub down and polish out any imperfections before full production. Urethane is also a good option when small intricate casts are required.
